Why can't I message someone before we match?
Because messaging only opens after a mutual match. Your like is private; when both of you like each other, a match is created and the chat opens. This means nobody can send you unsolicited messages, which removes most spam and a lot of harassment.
What are tribes?
Tribes are interest and identity groups such as Vegan, No-makeup, Health-oriented, Spiritual, Sober, LGBTQ+, Over 50 or Single parents. You can join as many as you like. They show on your profile, raise your compatibility with people who share them, can be used as a Discover filter, and each tribe has its own public page and discussion board. Any member can also create a new tribe.
Can I use Souldaters just to make friends?
Yes. Choose Friends only (or Dating & friends) as your intent. Friend matching works the same way as dating: you both send a like, and the chat opens once it is mutual.
Can I only see vegans, non-drinkers or people who don't wear makeup?
