Terms of use
These terms apply to your use of souldaters.com and the Souldaters web app (the "Service"), operated by Souldaters. By creating an account or using the Service you agree to them. Please also read our privacy policy and safety guidance.
1. Who can use Souldaters
- You must be at least 18 years old.
- You must be legally able to agree to these terms and not be barred from using the Service under applicable law.
- You may have one personal account. Accounts are not transferable.
- You must not use the Service if you have been convicted of a sexual or violent offense, or if we have previously removed you.
2. Your account
Give accurate information about yourself, including your age, and keep your password secure. Photos must be of you and recent. You're responsible for activity on your account; tell us if you think someone else has accessed it.
3. The Service is free
Souldaters is free to use. There are no paid tiers. We may change, add or remove features, and we'll try to give notice of significant changes.
4. Community rules
Souldaters works because people treat each other with care. You agree not to:
- harass, threaten, bully, stalk or intimidate anyone, or keep contacting someone who has made clear they're not interested;
- post hate speech or content that demeans people based on race, ethnicity, religion, disability, gender, gender identity, sexual orientation, age or similar characteristics;
- impersonate anyone, use someone else's photos, or misrepresent your identity, age or intentions;
- ask for or offer money, gifts, gift cards, crypto, loans or financial help, or promote investments — no scams of any kind;
- use the Service for commercial purposes: advertising, selling, recruiting, multi-level marketing or promoting other platforms or social media for profit;
- solicit or offer sex work, escort services, "sugar" arrangements or any paid companionship;
- share sexually explicit content, or any intimate image of another person without their consent;
- post anything involving minors in a sexual context — this results in a permanent ban and a report to authorities;
- share other people's personal information (addresses, phone numbers, workplaces) without consent;
- post illegal content, or encourage violence, self-harm or illegal activity;
- spam, use bots or automated scripts, scrape the Service, or try to get around limits, blocks or bans;
- interfere with or attack the Service's security or infrastructure.
Creating a tribe works the same way: tribe names and descriptions must follow these rules, and tribes built around hate, commercial services, sex work or anything illegal will be removed.
5. Your content
You keep ownership of what you post (photos, profile text, messages, tribe posts). To run the Service, you give Souldaters a worldwide, non-exclusive, royalty-free license to host, store, display, reproduce and adapt (for example, resize) that content, only as needed to operate, improve and promote the Service. For tribe posts and tribe descriptions, this includes showing them on public tribe pages, which search engines may index. The license ends when you delete the content or your account, except for copies that are already public elsewhere or that we must keep for legal or safety reasons. You confirm you have the right to post everything you share.
6. Moderation and reports
Anyone can report a profile or post. A human moderator reviews reports and may warn users, remove content, hide tribes, limit features, or suspend or permanently ban accounts. Automated filters may block messages or posts that contain known scam phrases. We don't pre-screen everything, and we can't guarantee that every member behaves well — please read our safety guidance.
7. Ending your account
You can delete your account at any time. We may suspend or terminate accounts that break these terms, put other members at risk, or where required by law. Where it's safe and appropriate, we'll tell you why.
8. Interactions with other members
You're responsible for your interactions with other members, online and offline. Souldaters doesn't run criminal background checks and doesn't verify every statement members make about themselves. Use caution, meet in public, and never send money to someone you met online.
9. Disclaimers
The Service is provided "as is" and "as available". To the extent permitted by applicable law, we make no guarantees that the Service will be uninterrupted or error-free, that you'll find a match, or about the conduct of any member. Compatibility scores are an informational guide, not a promise.
10. Limitation of liability
To the extent permitted by applicable law, Souldaters is not liable for indirect, incidental or consequential losses, or for loss of data, profits or opportunities, arising from your use of the Service or from the conduct of other members. Because the Service is free, our total liability for any claim is limited to the maximum extent permitted by applicable law. Nothing in these terms limits liability that cannot be limited by law, such as liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, fraud, or your statutory rights as a consumer.
11. Applicable law
These terms are governed by applicable law. If you are a consumer, you keep any protections given to you by the mandatory laws of the country where you live. If any part of these terms is found unenforceable, the rest remains in effect.
12. Changes
We may update these terms. If changes are significant we'll let you know in the app or by email before they take effect. Continuing to use the Service after that means you accept the updated terms.
