Staying safe on Souldaters
Most people you meet online are exactly who they say they are. These habits help you enjoy meeting new people while protecting yourself from the few who aren't.
The golden rule: never send money, gift cards, crypto or bank details to anyone you met online — no matter how real the relationship feels or how urgent the story sounds.
What Souldaters does to protect you
- Match-first messaging. Nobody can message you until you have both liked each other. No cold messages, no inbox floods.
- 18+ only. Members must be at least 18. Suspected underage accounts are removed.
- Block and report everywhere. On every profile and every tribe post. Reports are reviewed by a human moderator, who can remove content and ban accounts.
- Scam filter. Messages and posts containing common scam phrases (money transfers, gift cards, "crypto investment" pitches and similar) are blocked.
- Daily like limit. Stops bots and mass-likers.
- Email verification and verified badge. You can choose to only see verified members.
- Private profiles. Profiles are visible to logged-in members only and aren't indexed by search engines. Others see distance, not your location.
- Pause or delete anytime. Hide your profile with a tap, or delete your account.
Safety while chatting
- Keep the conversation on Souldaters until you feel comfortable. Scammers often push to move to WhatsApp, Telegram or email quickly.
- Don't share your home address, workplace, financial details or anything you'd use for a password (pet names, birthplace).
- A short video call before meeting is a simple way to check someone is who their photos say.
- Trust your gut. You never owe anyone a reply, a date or an explanation. Unmatch or block whenever you want.
Safety when meeting in person
- Meet in public — a busy café, market, park or gallery. Our first date ideas are built around this.
- Tell a friend where you're going, who you're meeting and when you expect to be home. Share your live location if you like.
- Arrange your own transport there and back, and keep your phone charged.
- Stay in control of your drink and how much you drink. Sober and alcohol-free dates are completely normal — see the Sober tribe.
- Leave whenever you want. A short first date (an hour or so) makes that easy.
Romance scam red flags
Romance scams usually follow a pattern. Be cautious if someone:
- Asks for money, gift cards, crypto or help with a "fee" — for travel, medical bills, customs, a visa or a business emergency.
- Offers investment or crypto-trading tips, or wants to "teach you" a trading platform.
- Declares strong feelings very quickly and pushes for exclusivity.
- Always has a reason they can't video call or meet (working abroad, on an oil rig, deployed in the military).
- Wants to move off the app immediately, or asks you to keep the relationship secret.
- Has a story that shifts, or photos that look like a model's portfolio.

How to report
- Open the profile or tribe post in the app.
- Tap the report option and choose a reason (for example scam, harassment, fake profile, underage, inappropriate content).
- Add details if you can — they help the moderator act quickly.
- Block the person if you don't want any further contact.
If you can't use the app, email palmies@pm.me with the member's username, city and what happened. If you are in immediate danger, contact your local emergency services first. If you've lost money to a scam, contact your bank straight away and report it to your local police or consumer protection agency.
Safety questions
How do I report someone on Souldaters?
Open their profile (or the tribe post) in the app, tap the report option, choose a reason and add any details. Reports go to a human moderator. You can also block the person at the same time so they can no longer contact you.
What happens when I block someone?
Blocking closes any chat between you permanently and stops you from seeing each other in Discover, likes or matches.
Someone asked me for money. What should I do?
Stop replying, do not send anything, and report the profile in the app. Asking for money, gift cards or crypto is one of the clearest signs of a romance scam, however convincing the story.
Can people see my exact location?
No. Other members only see an approximate distance, never your exact coordinates or address.
