Can I create my own group on Souldaters?
Yes. Any Souldaters member can create a new tribe for free. A tribe is an interest tag that is also a group, with its own public page and discussion board. Members can join many tribes, tribes appear on profiles and boost compatibility, and a member-created tribe becomes indexable by Google once it has at least three members and a real description.
Souldaters has around sixty curated tribes, from vegan and sober to hikers and single parents, but your community might be more specific: vegan runners in your city, a queer book club, a sourdough circle. You can create it yourself.
Tribes are at the heart of Souldaters because shared interests and values are one of the most reliable foundations for friendship and love. A small, specific tribe can be more valuable than a large general one, because the people in it genuinely share something that matters to them. Creating one is free, and it is a great way to become a connector in your own community.
How to create a tribe
- Open Tribes in the app.
- Check the directory first; a similar tribe may already exist.
- Choose a clear name, an emoji and a category.
- Write a real description: who it is for and what people talk about.
- Join it, then invite people by posting in related tribes' boards.
What does a tribe do?
- Public page: each tribe has a page at /tribe/<name> with a discussion board.
- Profiles: tribes show on members' profiles.
- Compatibility: shared tribes raise the soul-match score.
- Filtering: members can filter Discover to people sharing a tribe.
- Discoverability: once a member-created tribe has three or more members and a real description, it can be indexed by search engines, helping like-minded people find it.
Tips for a thriving tribe
- Be specific. "Wild swimmers in Brighton" attracts more than "swimming".
- Post a welcome message and a question to get people talking.
- Suggest simple meetups on the board.
- Keep it kind; report anything that breaks the rules.
